The Epoch Times recently claimed to have received an anonymous collection of documents which detail item-level corruption in the Chinese government.  Names, dates and numbers are listed in the retrieved secret documents regarding government officials who are prisoners, embezzlers, or expatriates.
The provenance of the papers is a mystery, but “based on the language and phraseology,” it is guessed as a “state-affiliated research center,” and not a leak by the Party regime. “Over 7,101 corrupt officials have fled to the United States, together bringing over 336 billion yuan (US$52.7 billion).”  America is “the most-favored destination for fleeing Chinese cadres, but countries with loose immigration regulations like Cambodia, Thailand, and Burma are popular for lower-level apparatchiks.”
